The American Judicature Society will be holding its Annual Meeting and Reception on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, 4:30 p.m. at the Pacific Club in Honolulu, HI.  This year, our keynote address will be given by Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald and the topic of our panel discussion will be “Justice In The Age Of Instagram.”  Our guest panelists will be Judge Barry M. Kurren (ret.), Judge Dexter D. The Honorable Barry M. Kurren served as a United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Hawaii from 1992 to 2016. Judge Kurren is a past president of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association and previously served on the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts Magistrate Judges Advisory Group and the Ninth Circuit Magistrate Judges Executive Board.  He has also served as an Acting Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and instructed at the William S. Richardson School of Law and the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Honorable Dexter D. Del Rosario served as Judge for the Circuit court of the First Circuit, State of Hawaii until his retirement from the bench in December 2016.  Prior to leaving the bench, Judge Del Rosario presided over several high profile cases in Hawaii included the State of Hawai’i v. William P. Kenoi.

Elijah Yip is a partner at Cades Schutte LLP.  He counsels his clients in litigation and non-litigation contexts regarding Internet and Information technology law, environmental regulation, health care, and First Amendment rights.  He chairs the firm’s Digital Media and Internet & Information Technology Law practice groups.
